I never thought I'd say it, and if you repeat this, I will
lie and swear I didn't say it -- I am looking forward to going to Wal-Mart
tomorrow (we'll go to the produce department, Matt, and squeeze the
melons). Surely they will have one of my
two preferred soft drinks!
We just came from the best show I think we've ever seen on
board. The dance company did a non-stop,
high energy, 45 minute song and dance routine that took our breath away. Absolutely incredible! The highlight was the dancers in traditional
Russian costume (look at one of our matroyshkas to refresh your memories) doing
Russian dance, including the Cossack dance!
Wow!
We are really enjoying our dinner table companions. As you know, we went ashore with Dana and Grayson
to the tropical rain forest (carrying our umbrellas and goulashes -- just
kidding). Today we played Rummy with Jim
and Cheryl, and during the course of the game talked about ministry and
Christianity and Jesus. Really, really
nice.
Tomorrow we sleep in and then go ashore in Puerto Vallarta, check out Wal-Mart, as I
said, and then go exploring -- there is an old historic church close. Hopefully, some other goodies as well. A local production team is coming on to do a
show before we sail -- they had previously been located in the Mexican state
where there was really bad drug stuff, and their theater was burned down,
probably by drug people. They rescued as
many of their costumes as they could and now locate here. Looking forward to that as well.
Well, I am out of superlatives for today, so, hereeeeeee's
Bonnie!
But first a special greeting to Rachel Marie -- Happy
Birthday! Sweet 16 and never been
kissed?
He stole my idea. Yeah!! Wal-Mart and dews and Pringles and
who knows what else. Not much we do have a 50 pound limit on suitcases. Haven't
bought many souvenirs but a few.
Well, David woke us at 6:30 am this morning after turning
our clocks ahead one hour last night. I told him I had better get to sleep in
tomorrow. After getting washed and dressed we headed for breakfast. Having
cheese and cheese for breakfast--not doing well in the morning--and orange
juice to wash down the pills and a cup of hot chocolate, I went to deck 10 to
walk my mile. This morning I did an extra 1 and 1/2 laps. After walking I
returned to the room to pick up my crocheting and headed for deck 5 outside to
sit . It was very nice outside and I enjoyed the air. Since David's talk was at
9:45 I headed to the Cabaret at 9:30. I sat in the back because I was missing
the craft class at 10;15 and though I could work on my pineapple bag without
going, I knew I would need to sneak out and get some more thread. I did sneak
out about 10:30 and returned for the end of the talk and finished my bag.
After his talk we headed to guest services to check on
getting off the ship as early as possible to get a taxi and get to the airport
on Wednesday next week. Hopefully everything will work out (Eeyore).
Then, they were starting the next round of the ships
"Ryder Cup" tournament so we stayed to watch for a while (an on board
version of Putt Putt -- David). Today was English Pub day on Deck 10 so I went
with him while he had scotch egg and salad. He also had a triffle for dessert.
As he was eating (I just had some
"chips" ) we saw a school of dolphins jumping out of the water just
at the rear of the ship. How cool!! I left him and went out on deck 10 to
watch. Couldn't see much. So I went into the buffet where it was Mexican food
day. Hurrah!! I had some chips and salsa and a beef burrito. Yeah for me. I was hoping since it was supposedly
Cinco De Mayo day on board that supper would have a Mexican theme. No such
luck.
Man, they must have a lot of fish in the galley. I did have
a grapefruit and kiwi appetizer and a salad. Then ordered the " home
cooked cuisine" which was pot roast, mashed potatoes and purple cabbage.
The meat was extremely tender and good. The mashed potatoes were so-so and
cabbage was okay. Dessert was chocolate ice cream and pina colada sorbet. They
give you a very small demitasse spoon when you order ice cream because you get
a small dish with scoops the size of a tablespoon. Oh well, it is ice cream and they make all of
it on board.
As David said the show was spectacular. Great dancers. The
singers are good, one male and one female but the dancers far outshine them.
We stopped and got one coke to bring back to the room and
are sharing it.
Well, nothing much happening now. I am sure we will have
some tales to tell you tomorrow.
Dear Rachel Marie, I hope you got your card and had a great
day.
Miss you all. No Mac I didn't forget you. Keep walking and
Tate how is your walking coming on (ha ha). Luke keep studying.
Rachel Bryn school is not out yet!! Maggie comb your hair,
ha ha.
Well, David says I have to stop (Did not. I just asked if this version of "War and
Peace" was finished). Night all!
