May 4, 2016
Well, we have some work to do tomorrow account-wise and
getting-to-the-airport-wise. We are not
supposed to be charged gratuities, but they are on our bill. I spoke to Guest Services tonight and the
issue is being passed on to the Financial Officer who will correct it
tomorrow. I will check.
And getting to the airport is not going to be as easy as it
should have been, and it is all the fault of Spirit Airlines, our carrier back
to Atlanta. Our flight takes off at 12:10 p.m., local
time, and to use the ship's shuttle to the airport, flights may not take off
before 12:30 p.m. Twenty minutes! Can you believe it? Of course, 1230 is rather arbitrary. Why not 12?
So I will be talking to Guest Services tomorrow to arrange our
disembarkation and the services of a shuttle or taxi, hopefully at a reasonable
price. Pray saints!
I usually don't report my meals, but tonight's entree was
especially tasty. It was scallops and
shrimp in a light cream sauce, surrounded by fluffy mashed potatoes. Very good, indeed. And for dessert, crème brule. Excellent.
Speaking of groceries, I finished my food series today with
"Yes, We May Have No Bananas," a serious, but lighthearted talk that
was well received. I think it would rank
second in my favorites category with "The Incredible Hermitage."
Tomorrow's talk, "The Pirate Republic," will be
offered at 9:45. My times seem to be
jumping around, but my fans and groupies continue to show up. Men hurl $100 bills and women hurl their
undergarments at the stage. Actually, I
made that last sentence up.
Spanish speaking countries celebrate the Day of the Dead in
November at the same time many churches celebrate All Soul's Day. However, on board the Pacific Princess there
is a DOTD party going on right now.
Bonnie made two masks in crafts class that are quite clever and very
festive. We photographed ourselves
wearing them. While we are not going to
the party tonight, we will bring the masks home and find another occasion to
wear them.

While Bonnie is regaling you with the events of the day from
her point of view (not always in agreement with mine, and on occasion, not in
agreement with the facts) I am reading "In the Name of Honor" a
classic Star Trek novel by Dayton Ward.
Delicate peace talks between the Federation and the Klingon Empire
become complicated when Captain Kirk discovers that Starfleet prisoners of war
are being held captive on a remote jungle planet. Tonight I am on Page 186. The story ends on Page 328. I also make progress through the book when I
repose upon the facilities. Good
progress is being made by all.
Captain Kirk beckons, so I will turn the keyboard over to
Mrs. Hunt-And-Peck and let the keys cool down from my 100 wpm speed.
Now that the "BlowHard" is finished... on to the
true happenings of the day...
We rose early and after showering we headed to breakfast. It
was a bust. I went to take my walk
around deck 10 and he went to study. There were about 10 birds flying around
the ship as I walked. They were riding the draft of the ship I was informed. I
tried to video them but they were uncooperative. I went to deck 5 and set out
crocheting till craft time. The finishing of our pineapple bag project was
postponed till tomorrow so that the crew staff could do the mask project for
the party going on right now. I dutifully made 2 masks. We have pictures of the
masks, not the party. Since David's talk is early tomorrow we need to retire
soon so we can rise early.
After he finished his talk and we returned our stuff to the
room, taking time to stop at guest services to turn in our request for leaving
the ship, and stopping watch a little of the "Princess Ryder Cup"
competition, some of these people are way to serious about the games on board,
we headed to lunch. Since I did not eat
my breakfast, I started before he did. Lunch was not much better. I mainly had
some cheese and crackers. Afterwards I was going to try and go take pictures of
the birds but they were elsewhere. So I went back to the room with David. He
had his next talk to rework and he was going to nap. I crocheted some more and
soon joined him napping.
We got dressed at 5 and headed to supper. Tonight was
Italian night. I had a bowl of "minestrone "soup, it was mostly
barley and tomato sauce but okay taste wise. I had a salad and penne with spicy
tomato sauce and garlic. It was also good. Dessert was just chocolate and
vanilla ice cream.
After supper we hung out on deck 5 till time to go to the
show that was at 8:15. Tonight we were able to get my favorite seats. Show was
very good, a repeat performance of Nicole Sasser, the trumpeter, and the comedy
guy Gary DeLena. Both very good. We have returned to our cabin, dressed for bed
and we soon turn in. Nice day. But sadly I guess boring but hey, we are on
vacation.
Hey Mac, keep walking.
Granny misses you all.
