Rassen-fracken fricken-bricken speel checker! They were offering a special on the massage,
there was not a special message -- other than you get the haircut when you get
the massage. The haircut is not free (if
you don't know what I'm talking about, read yesterday's blog).
I forgot to tell you about the brothers who served us at
lunch yesterday -- Vesko and Uros from Serbia. They were competing to see who could take the
best care of us -- bringing us ice, clearing the dirty dishes, bringing more
coffee, etc.
At one point Vesko, the oldest, told us that Uros was his
brother. He said, "Twenty-six years
we had the same mother. Twenty-six years
we had the same father. Twenty-six years
we lived in the same house. I go the Pacific
Princess to get away from him and one month later he is on board. And we are in the same cabin!" He did admit that they love each other --
good bros relationship.
We decided to stay on board today, and so we did. And a good thing, too, because this morning
we won a trivia contest -- just the two of us.
We dominated -- just the two of us.
We got great prizes -- just the two of us. We were the contestants -- just the two of
us! The young man doing the trivia, Nik,
is from Belarus,
and he came over to where we sitting in the Pacific Lounge, Deck 10 forward,
and asked if we were there for trivia.
We told him, no, but said we'd play.
When he looked hesitant that there were just the two of us, we said,
"On second thought, why don't you take the next few minutes
off." He rewarded our
thoughtfulness with trivia prizes. We
would have won anyway -- just the two of us.
From where we were sitting in the Pacific Lounge, we could
see the area through which our fellow shipmates passed to go on tours or to
rummage in the vendors' wares (as we did earlier). And from our post high atop the beautiful
Pacific Princess, Bonnie shouted, "A cow!
I can see a cow!" And so she
could. It was a black and white cow (is
that a Guernsey) nibbling the very sparse grass
which surrounded her (the cow, not Bonnie).
She was later joined by four fellows (the cow, not Bonnie).
And while we were watching two military vehicles rolled up
with completely outfitted soldiers in the back's open air compartments, holding
machine guns, and looking for all the world like a rescue or a defense
team. They sat there for a while, then three
of them went into the vendors' area and went shopping. Then they drove away, machine guns at the
ready.
And now it is Bonnie's turn to regale you with events from
her point of view.
Well, the Captain's voice again stirred me from slumber. We
had arrived a little late and they were having trouble putting out the gangway
on deck 3 so they had it on deck 4. But by the time for all ashore the issue was
resolved and it was again on deck 3. we came to find out later that when enter
the harbor our little ship had dragged bottom because the tide was out. Oh
My!!
After breakfast and our short tour of the small shopping
tents on the dock we went to our room. I picked up my crocheting and a diet
coke and we headed to the Pacific Lounge. We found a couple of comfortable chairs after rearranging some furniture since
the table we were at wobbled. We watched
people come and go. The military trucks with machine guns mounted on the top of
the cabs and the guys with guns and body armor was interesting. We also saw a
car being driven by a navy guy arrive and deposit 2 people. He sat waited till
after 3 pm before they left.
Yes I did see a cow. And it was right on the edge of the
road! Actually there five in all, that I saw as the day progressed. It was
amusing and entertaining. Doesn't take much. After our wonderful trivia
victory, we went to lunch. I had, wait for it, some pasta with marinara sauce!!
Delicious. Just a small bit, also, a BLT sandwich, just a half, a salad and an
oatmeal raisin cookie. He had peanut a butter cookie.
After lunch I returned to my perch in the Pacific Lounge and
he went to nap. This was about 12:45. He did not returned to the lounge till
3:20. Some nap! I got a lot of crocheting and people watching done.
At 4pm we were invited to the new suite of our friends for
drinks and hor d oeuvres and a tour of the suite. We also had the opportunity
to watch the sail away from their balcony on the rear of the ship. It was huge!
The balcony that is. They had an actual queen size bed and a Jacuzzi bath tub.
Oh my, how the rich folk do live. Now that is the way to cruise.
Our whole table was at the new suite and we were all late
arriving at dinner. I had chicken noodle soup (which used the chicken left over
from the other night), salad, pulled pork, mashed potatoes and seasonal
veggies, and a chocolate cake made with dark chocolate (it was just okay). It
was supposed to be made from some famous recipe from France.
After supper we went to the show with the singers and
dancers. It was called "Let's Dance". The dancers are absolutely
amazing but the singers only so-so. The
lady singer is a lot older than the dancers and the male singer. But the dancers
make the show.
Well, it is 9:45 and close to bed time. Talk is at 10:15 in
the morning. So we will be up at 7. Tomorrow is our last formal night. And the
maitre 'D told us we all receive and special souvenir menu to take home. How nice.
Thank you for the flowers. And I loved my corsage!
Love Mom and for today it was Dot. Dot. Dot.
TTFN!
