As we came out of the theater tonight from a very enjoyable performance by harpist Francisco Yglesia, another performer in the B.B. King Lounge was singing that old Roger Miller standard. And I went down the hall singing along. Rooms to let 50 cents. No phone, no pool, no pets. Ain’t got no cigarettes. Ah, but two hours of pushing broom buys an 8 X 12 four bit room. I’m a man of means, by no means, King of the Road.
Are you impressed? I know the rest of the song, but I hope that was enough to stick it in your head like “It’s a small world after all. It’s a small, small world.”
We have seen Mr. Yglesia before. We did not recognize his name, but when he came out on stage carrying his harp, we knew we had. You think of a harp and you think of a huge instrument where the musician sits behind it in a chair, pulls the harp towards him or her and starts plucking. His is a smallish harp with a wooden case, and is, like most instruments today, electrified. It is made in Paraguay, the only place that makes that kind. If was a very good show, and it included a sing-along: “O Solo Mio.” He tried to get us to do the high notes at the close like the Three Tenors or Maria Callas, but it didn’t quite work.
And I learned today from the tech who helps me get set up for my talks that the comedian we enjoyed, Scott Harris, will be back tomorrow night with an all new show. And sadly, the Post Modern Jukebox (I originally typed Junkbox – what would Freud say?) will be back in two nights. That one we will miss, have two appetizers at dinner, come back to our room and watch remodeling shows on HGTV.
Correction in the score of the Rummy Tournament. It was only 4-2, my favor. I don’t know where I got the score I reported last night, but there you are. And now it is 4-4 with Mom having won the Auction Rummy reprise and the regular rummy game today. However, tomorrow, as the lady said in Gone With the Wind, is another day.
It was a beautiful day at sea today. Not Irving Berlin blue skies, but very nice nonetheless. When we went up to breakfast we hoped we could get a table for two by the window, but alas, they were all taken, and by people who weren’t even looking out the window. Why sit in the window if you aren’t going to look out? We sat at a long table that faced the window so we could enjoy the view. A good start to the day.
And now the day is closing, and I will turn the keyboard over to my cruise buddy.

All right, Tate I am out of chocolate and yours is looking really good!!!
Well, I heard from Karen yesterday and Frank is doing well. The block they used lasts for 3 days, mine only lasted 24 hours. So he is feeling good for now but keep him in your prayers.
Today I was awake at 5 or 5:30 and sleep was no where to be found, so I played games on my phone till he got up and we got ready for the day. We are not turning the clocks back tonight so I will still only be adding 3 hours to my watch to know what time it is here. I can’t change the time on my watch because it is linked to my phone which is on airplane mode and right now it has the time in Chicago!
After breakfast I took a walk, about 1 and 1/4 miles. It was super nice outside. I enjoyed it. No wind today and the seas are a little calmer. Then, back to the room to pick up my stuff and go to the Lido to get some ice and water. Then, off to deck three to read, and do stuff till he finishes rehearsing. He was a long time today. I thought he would never join me, but he finally did. We ate lunch in the café. Then, played some more cards before heading to the room to get ready for his talk. I headed off before him because there was supposed to be some EXC person from the ship doing some sort of talk. When I got to the theater there was no evidence anyone had been there. So I found a seat and he soon arrived. Good crowd and a good talk. We stayed for Jim’s talk and then headed to the room for resting and getting ready for supper.
Supper was better tonight. I had tomato soup and a strip steak and a panna cotte, butterscotch flavor. All was tasty.
The entertainer tonight who was from Paraguay was very good. His instrument was quite interesting.
I didn’t do the walk on deck for a cause, even though I bought a t-shirt, because it was the same time as your Dad’s talk but I did wear my t-shirt. Tomorrow is orange night and I have my orange shirt and slacks to wear. It is a Dutch thing.
I got a ginger ale to drink this evening I just needed something different. Well, nothing exciting here just a nice leisurely crossing. I love the days when I can sit and watch the sea. The only thing Holland doesn’t have that Carnival does is chairs on the promenade deck so you can sit outside. You have to go to the lido around the pools and I don’t like it there. It is not as open to the outside.
Well, bedtime is approaching. Love you all. Mom, Granny and Bonnie
