The title of tonight’s blog is in reference to the performers who were the evening’s entertainment on the World Stage. If you ever get a chance to see Post Modern Jukebox, don’t. The advertisement and hype for the show sounded great. They would take songs from the 80s and 90s (think Richardson’s Lake and after) and even some 21st century songs and do them in the style of the 50s and 60s.
Well, they did songs from the advertised period, but friends, the 50s and 60s were never like what we heard tonight. I was expecting The Beatles, The Rolling Stones, Motown, a variety of “Four” groups – Tops, Seasons, etc. Nope. Wasn’t happening. It was dowop on steroids. If that lady the other night who was sitting beside of Bonnie thought this was loud, holy cow! To conclude my criticism, there were more people walking out of this show than any performance I ever remember on any cruise ship we’ve ever sailed. So like I said, if you get the chance, don’t.
Okay, my growling is over.
The score in the Rummy Tournament is now 6-2 in favor of the male team. However in game 9, which is being played as Auction Rummy, Mom is ahead through the first three hands – two sets of three, two runs of three, and a set of four and a run of three. But three sets of three, three runs of three, and a run of five and a set of three is yet to come. And yes, bro, I know we played a run of seven at 117, but we’ve changed the rules for 233 and all ships at sea.
Before I forget it, the October 25th Revolution that overthrew the provisional Russian government and established communism took place 102 years ago today. If you missed my talk, “Are We There Yet?” I explained that when the Gregorian calendar replaced the Julian calendar, the Russians didn’t get on board until 1917 (and the calendar went into effect in 1582). So now you know.
I did “The Pirate Republic: Democracy in the Bahamas” today to a full theater. As one of my correspondents says, not to hurt my arm patting myself on the back, but it was very gratifying.
The other presenter had a full house as well, some leaving after mine and coming in for Jim. His name is Jim. And he talked today about navigating the night sky. It was an impressive talk. And he invited everyone up to Deck 14 tonight for a practical demonstration. Guest which two of your favorite cruisers forgot until they were back in the cabin and in their bedtime wear. Yup. The folks in 1153. Maybe we can remember tomorrow night.
I enjoyed my dinner tonight. Mom did not. It all started when she took a look at the side dishes and there was a creamy white layer with bits of corn on top. She took one bite, looked at me, and said, “This is grits! I don’t like grits!” I took a fork full and thought it was quite tasty. But I’ll let her tell you the rest of the story (thank you Paul Harvey).
Okay then, I will let her tell you the rest of the story right now.

Last nights sleep was normal, up two or three times and hot and out from under the covers. But it was okay. Up normal time, then got ready and went to breakfast. Nothing extra. The best part of breakfast was we had a window seat table for 2 and there was a rainbow right outside our window.
Today has not been a real good eating day. After breakfast he headed back to the room to rehearse and I went out on deck 3 and walked a mile plus. It was nice and I saw not one but 2 rainbows stretching down into the sea. It was raining out on the horizon and not cold at all. After I finished my walk which was very nice I went to the room got my bottle and crocheting. I told David about the rainbows that I saw and we could see them out our window. I headed to the Lido deck to get some ice and water and then to deck 3 to sit and wait for him to finish his preparation. I found a nice table in the window. I took time to go to the desk and sign up for the walk “On Deck for a Cause” that is tomorrow. I always say I am walking for Aunt Cathy on the form we fill out. For a $20 donation you get a t-shirt and a wrist band. $15 goes to cause of cancer research and $5 for the t-shirt and wrist band. On Carnival all the money goes to the cause and the t-shirt and wrist band are free. The walk is at 2 tomorrow.
Then, I ordered a hot chocolate at the café, extra chocolate and extra hot. It costs but it is really good. I told the young man making my chocolate about the rainbow and he said he would have to have a look. When I went back to my table you could see it out the window.
David arrived about 11 and went outside to take a picture of the rainbow. It is very beautiful and then we played some cards. Not a real good cruise for me but oh well it is fun.
Then, it was up to Lido for lunch. I had a jalapeno and cheese hotdog. It was good. While I was waiting for David to come back with our lunch, the Captain came on with the noon report. Oh by the way he hasn’t found that smooth sea yet. In his talk today when he gave our position for the day he said “ we are at the beginning of the middle of nowhere”. Now that is funny. This Captain has a good sense of humor.
Well by the time we finished lunch it was time to go back to the room and get ready for his talk. Then, off to the theater for his talk and Jim’s. Then, back to the room to dress for supper and then off to supper. Supper left a lot to be desired. I don’t know exactly what was with my chicken but it had no taste other than awful. I ate a little of the chicken and left the rest. I ended the meal with a sugar free cheese cake which was just okay.
He is right the show was nothing extra. Before the show everybody was crowding in, there weren’t any seats left when it was time for the show to begin. People were standing around the walls, door and in the aisles. But before the show was half over people were getting up and leaving. There was polite applause and a mass exit as soon as the last note was sung. It would have been interesting to have seen how many people went to the second show. Tomorrow night there is world renown harpist playing.
Well, that is all for tonight. Jennifer, how is Maggie’s foot? Hope she is doing okay.
Keep Frank in your prayers. I wrote Karen an email and I will let you know if I hear how he is doing. But prayers always help.
Love you all Mom, granny and Bonnie
PS Oh by the way your Dad bought a new shirt. It was on sale 75% off. Nice shirt.
