PICTURES FROM VENICE 02

If you click on a picture, it will be enlarged in a new tab.

Another family was coming into the hotel, but you can see the ramp from the water taxi into the building.

The Grand Canal as seen from the Academia Bridge

Our first Venetian selfie

The domed church is called Santa Maria della Salute

One of the countless side canals. Notice the bridge in the distance. All of that makes finding your way around fun.

I was fascinated by the colors -- you buy the powder and mix your own. And these two stood there for the longest time just looking.

Piazzetta San Marco. This was our first night. Our hostess at the hotel said if we wanted to maintain our romantic view of Venice to visit the Square after 5 p.m. when the day trippers had gone. She was right. In the daytime it was very crowded with tourists and souvenir sellers.

Two long buildings, which have been government buildings, and now houses retail establishments, face each other. The recent floods put water in the Square knee deep.

The Basilica of San Marco. This beautiful church was flooded, causing a lot of damage.

Not long after I took this selfie I suffered the leg cramp of which you read in the Blog.
