The score in the Koningsdam Rummy Tournament is 3-2 in favor of the men’s team. Bonnie won today’s contest, tightening up the competition, with a wire-to-wire win. She started off 95-75 and kept the pressure on, winning the day 560-515. I bravely mounted a comeback, closing to within 10 points before she sunk an eagle putt from off of the 18th green at the Augusta National. However, it ain’t over until it’s over. Stay tuned for more news from the wide world of sports where you can learn about the thrill of victory and the agony of the feet. Sorry.
Tonight’s entertainer on the World Stage was comedian Scott Harris. He played to his audience by announcing that this was his first contract as a senior citizen, having just turned 65. I’m guessing the average age of the guests on board is somewhere in that neighborhood. I’d guess that the average age of the guests on board for any Atlantic Crossing would be somewhere in that neighborhood.
One of his best bits was doing a word or part of a line from a commercial, pausing, and we, his audience would complete the golden oldies without further prompting. For instance: plop, plop. Or, please don’t squeeze. Or, Oh I wish I were. Or, good to the last. Or, I'd walk a mile. If you are close to my age, you should score 100%. If you are 40-something, a gold star for 100%.
And he talked about our toys. One was Slinky. It’s big feature was taking it to the top of the stairs, giving it a push, and it would roll to the bottom. He said, “Any toy will do that.”
Then there was riding bikes without helmets or riding in a car without seatbelts. And playing outside until the street lights came on.
All of the residents of Stateroom 1153 enjoyed it immensely.
Other than that, it was a pretty quiet day at sea today. Oh, I had two dippy eggs and two pieces of toast for breakfast, fish and steamed veggies for lunch, and egg plant Parmesan for supper. And as I type, I’m sipping Schweppes Ginger Ale. I typed those last two sentences with a certain amount of sarcasm (not Sislers Against Religious Collars And Stuffy Ministers), but we really enjoyed the day.
Well, if Mom can tear herself away from her dot-to-dot book, she will blog.

I was actually playing poker on my phone, not doing dot-to-dot. It was a restless night last night. We turned our clocks back again and I woke about 3 or 4 and thought I still have 3 or 4 hours to go before we get up. After tossing and turning for an hour I finally went back to sleep and slept to 7:30. We got up and had a hot shower today. I washed my hair and shaved my legs, he said it was about time for the latter. Then we dressed and headed for breakfast. Just a blueberry bagel and some fruit and chocolate milk. They actually have a decent chocolate milk. Then, he headed off to study and I went to deck 3 to read, and do some dot-to-dot. He joined me about 11 for our card playing then off for lunch. I had a sandwich they called the “shipwreck”. It had ham, turkey, cheese and salami besides lettuce, pickles and sliced carrots. I added mayo and mustard. Not bad. Then, ice cream for dessert.
We headed back to the room and I did word puzzles and he got ready for his talk. We went to the theater about 1:40. I saved him a seat so after his talk he could come and sit so we could listen to Jim’s talk on the Azores. After his talk at 4 the big hancho from Holland America who is replacing David and Jim on the 10th was talking about the history of cruising. He was Dutch and talked like he had a mouthful of mush. Since we had dinner reservations for 5:15 and I had to dress I left before the guy was finished.
We had a nice supper. I had a goat cheese and tomato tart, baked ziti and sausage, though I could hardly find the sausage just two tiny pieces, and a raspberry torte for dessert. All very good.
Then off to the show and now we are back in our room. He has his ginger ale and I have my mio, water and orange.
I didn’t nap today and I am tired. I hope I sleep straight through. Thomas the cruise director said the Captain said we are through our bad weather and should have smooth sailing the rest of the way. I hope so.
Miss you guys. Love you all. Love Mom, Granny and Bonnie
