Well, we are in Venice, and it has been a day. I need to charge the computer up, so this will be short and sweet, and Mom will blog tomorrow (the computer only has 36%) and she has a LOT to say.
We packed last night, got up at 7, showered, etc., and were at the Mikey Bar at 8:30 for breakfast, Café Americana and a croissant for me, and a cream filled donut something for mom. We lugged everything to the train station, and waited outside the departure gate for almost 2 hours. The schedule said the train to Venice would come in on track 12. It came in, late, on track 5, and we took off on a run with our luggage. We were literally on the train 2 minutes before it pulled out. If we had been several tracks down, say at 18 or 20, we would never have made it, but we did.
I was texting our hostess Daniela as we got closer to Venice and she said she wasn’t going to be able to meet us but I knew where to go. We go off the train, found the ticket booth for the water taxi (vaporetto), bought two and got to the dock for #4.2. We were standing there waiting when a voice behind me said, “David!” It was Daniela. She said she was not planning to meet us at the dock by the train station, but where we got off near the apartment, but her train was late, so there she was. That was an answer to prayer, because I prayed just that way.

We were on a high speed train -- that is about 120 mph. |
Well, the apartment is very nice. She told us some places to eat and to grocery shop, and some things to see. Tomorrow we are going to do laundry and relax. Wwe bought some groceries tonight and had pizza and brochette plus a coke zero and water for supper. We sat beside a very nice young couple and struck up a conversation with them. They live in London, they are from Latvia originally and he speaks Russian. Good conversation about MIR Children’s Foundation.
