TRAVELS AND TRIBULATIONS # 319

May 1, 2022

Tonight’s show in the Royal Theater was live music and for once I knew every word to every song.  The Headliner Showtime starred Britain’s Finest – a Beatles tribute band (interestingly, every member of Britain’s Finest is from the United States).  Unlike the Beatles’ first live concert at Shea Stadium in New York, when the Fab Four played for 25 minutes, these fellows were on stage non-stop for 45 minutes.  When “John Lennon” performed solo “Imagine” the audience turned their cellphone flashlights on and waved them like audiences used to do with real flashlights or cigarette lighters.  We sang along with “Hey Jude” and all of the rest, pieces from their earlier days, and ones that we oldsters remembered and sang with.  A good show.

I did “The Lady in Gold” this afternoon to the largest crowd I’ve had on this cruise.  The venue, The Music Hall is two stories, and almost every seat was filled.  And it was well received.  A pleasing experience for yours truly.

For supper tonight I ate more snails, had a vegetable pot pie, and finished off with cheese cake.  Fancy!  No Potatoes.

Congratulations to Maggie Rose and the girls she danced with today.  Their last competition of the year and both of their numbers were awarded Diamond Level.  And one dance received a Judges Award.  Jennifer said in one number one of Maggie’s tap shoes almost came off, but the trooper she is, she kept it on and kept dancing.  Good job!  And they are all thinking about next year (and I thought it was only baseball fans who did that).

Mom said she wants to blog.  I told her it’s 11:45 p.m. here – do not write War and Peace.

Love,

It was a dark and stormy night.  HaHaHa!!!!

Well, as Fonze was oft heard to say I was WROOOOONGGGG!! We don’t get to Gibraltar till tomorrow night. The Captain led me astray. Oh well. Maybe I will go out on deck and watch it is pass by tomorrow night!!

Up at 5am, couldn’t sleep. Have had two restless nights with my mask and c pap machine. Maybe tonight will be better. He got up at 7;30 and we showered and dressed and headed up for breakfast both wearing a jacket because the high today is only 68. When we left for breakfast it was only 63. After my hot chocolate and bacon sandwich I headed to 15 for my walk. The wind was vicious. On one side of the deck it blew me forward and on the other it blew me backwards. It was much colder than 63. I made it 2 times around before parts of me started to go numb. Went back to the cabin and gathered my crocheting stuff and headed back up to 14. I was just about the only person sitting out. I completed one of my hexagons and after about an hour and a half I was freezing so I headed to the cabin.

We were going for pizza for lunch so I waited till he was ready and we headed out to lunch. We did venture out in the cold for an ice cream cone, haha, never too cold for ice cream.

Went to the cabin till time for the talk. A took a very short nap. His talk was a really good one. It is the first time he has ever done this one. Everyone was impressed.

After the talk we came back to the room and he took a nap and I played on the kindle. Then, he worked on his Malaga talk and I took another cap nap. Then, up dress for supper and off we went. I got the baby back ribs, which Made said were actually “adult ribs” they couldn’t get the baby back in Ft Lauderdale. Strawberry shortcake for dessert.

The show was very good. The theater was filled to overflowing. Almost everybody on board is older.

I got my 2.5 miles in walking. Tomorrow the high is to be 64 and the winds twice as strong, brrrr. Maybe I will wear my sweater and jacket.

Well, we lose another hour tonight, the last one, and so it is now midnight here (we are 6 hours ahead of Augusta). I will say good night and love you all. Mom, Granny, and Bonnie
