I like long, slow, leisurely dinners on cruise ships. Tonight’s dinner put my appreciation to the test. After ordering, it was almost an hour before our appetizers came. We were at a table for 8 so there was plenty of talk (but if Janet, to my right, had told us one more time about the problem she was having with her ear, I would have shoved a spoon into it – and you know why a spoon!).
It took so long to finish that we didn’t finish. We ate our appetizers and our entrees and left before dessert to go the first show of “Not Really Three Tenors.” Great singers. Fabulous voices. And they are going to do another show on Wednesday.
After the show we went up to the Lido for ice cream and cookies, since we missed dessert. And now we are back in the room with the clocks set forward another hour, so we are now three hours ahead of Augusta. So since it is fast approaching midnight, I will say:
TTFN
Okay, my day started at 6am, that was when my beloved set the alarm to go off! I decided last night that I would just put on some jogging type clothes and go to the gym, ride the bicycle, go for a walk and then have breakfast. (He had ordered room service for himself at 7). Well, you know what they say about the best plans of mice and men. When I got to the gym at about 6:40 there was a line of about 15 people waiting to get into the gym. It was locked. It should have been open. Well, I got in line and said surely they will open in a minute or so because I knew there was a stretch class that was to start at 7. But 25 minutes later (after 2 calls to the front desk) it was still closed and the line was about 35 people long. I guess whoever was on duty forgot to set their clock forward. So I decided to go for my walk instead but low and behold they had deck 3 closed due to rainy weather. Frustration. So I returned to the room, took my bath redressed for the day and went up to breakfast. After breakfast I went to the Vista Lounge where his talk was to be at 11. I arrived about 8:45 just in time for the end of the morning Catholic mass. It was followed by an interdenominational service at 9. It was led by a Canadian retired Baptist preacher who was on board as the cruise chaplain. Nice service.
After David’s talk we stayed to hear Vivianne’s talk. It was a little confusing and the slides were way to busy, but it was okay. It was 12 after her talk ended so we headed to the room so David could change and then to lunch. Small Asian salad without the raw tuna, pizza and ice cream. Then, off to play a hand of cards which we didn’t finish yet (but I am losing again). He wanted to hear a ships talk about the ports to see if they overlapped his port talks so he went there and I went to do my walk. I made it around the deck 4 times (1 and 1/3 mile). Then, off to the room for a nap. Dressed for supper. Did not enjoy. We had to skip dessert so we could get to the 8 o’clock show. Excellent show. The entertainment on this ship has been fantastic. We did slip up to the Lido after the show to grab a bowl of ice cream.
Well, the clocks go up an hour again tonight. So I am off to take my pills and go to bed. Oh, to sleep all the way through. I usually wake about 2:30 in the morning and it takes more than an hour to go back to sleep. Oh well, what can you do. Can’t get up and go play on the computer like I do at home.
