The seas are getting a little rougher, nothing to cause discomfort, just a little more care in our steps, so the Captain has abandoned the Great Circle Route we were sailing and has assumed a more direct easterly course to avoid a storm that is developing in front of us. Thank you, Captain!
We had supper tonight – our first formal night, with two more to go – with Frank from Florida and Ohio (a seasonal resident), Rosemary from Ontario, and Vinnie from New Joisey (he knows where New Brunswick is, as well as Seaside Heights, and Asbury Park – old play grounds for the Bros in their much younger years).
“The Barbary Pirates” was my presentation today. Good crowd. Good response. I showed the Fountain picture for the first time on this cruise and got some ooohs and ahhhhs. Tomorrow I will tell them I picked my wife up in a bar.
I am on first tomorrow – “The Spanish Main and the Search for El Dorado.” I will be able to hear Vivianne do “Ancient Inventions Still in Use Today.” And because I am on at 10 o’clock, I have set the alarm for 6 a.m. and hung out the room service menu. Speaking of time – set your ship’s clocks ahead one hour (yes, again) tonight. We have to make up 5 or 6 hours by the time we get to Rome.
Before I forget it, closed circuit to all who are watching Wrestlemania tomorrow night: kindly send me email or emails with results so I can pass them on to my adoring fans. I know someone will want to know, in addition to me.
Well, because I am up first tomorrow, I need to rehearse again tonight, so I will turn the keyboard over to my traveling companion. Heeeeeeeere’s Bonnie!
And TTFN!
Well, the knee is grouchy tonight. Has been pretty much all day. My day started with a bath and then dressing and heading for breakfast on the Lido deck. We use the elevator because 9 flights up is a little much. We usally ride the elevator on the outside and it is glass and you can see the morning sky and the seas. It is quite nice though a little scarey. Breakfast this morning did not have the 2% chocolate milk they had yesterday instead they had the 1% chocolate milk. I do not like it as much but it was drinkable. We also had some tomato juice. I opted for a ham, cheese and tomato omelet with salsa on the side. It was okay. I am trying to eat something different each day so I can try everything.
After breakfast I headed to the gym, where I got to ride the bicycle for 15 minutes.
I will try for 20 tomorrow. Then it was off to the sale on the Lido deck where I purhased a sweat shirt jacket. I needed something a little heavier for the day times when it is cold. I don’t want to use the sweater that I brought, it is for evenings. After making my purchase I headed to the room to drop off my package then to deck three for my mile walk. I am slow but I make it around 3 times. I walk up and down the steps on these trips to work on my steps. After my walk it is back to the room to pick up my crocheting. I got about an hour and a half of crocheting done before it was time to meet David for lunch. I had a sandwich of some kind–not very good– and some vanilla and strawberry ice cream.
After lunch I went to the Vista lounge to crochet some more and wait for David’s talk to begin. After the talk we went up to the shops to look around, he needs a mouse pad, he forgot his. Didn’t buy anything but found the coffee bar up at the end of the shops so he had coffee and I had a hot chocolate. We played a game of cards and he beat me again. So far the score is 2 to 0. Oh well, as Amy says “It’s just a game.” (But he has beaten me very, very bad. My scores are miserable)Oh well, there are 12 more days.
Being tired and needing to dress for supper we went back to the cabin where he napped and I played on my phone.
Supper was nice, table companions nice. I had beef tenderloin, an arugula salad and a pineapple boat and strawberries for dessert.
The show tonight was a pianist and he was outstanding. He played every thing from show tunes, to theme songs from TV, jazz, blues, rock and roll and even a classical Chopin piece.
Well, we are back in our room, he is studying and I am playing games. We have gotten our laundry ready to go out in the morning. I have my ginger ale and will take my pills for the night in a minute.
Miss you all. Love you.
Mom, Granny or Bonnie ( depending on who is reading the letter)
