THE LAST BLOG?

November 1, 2016

Not sure if we will blog tomorrow night, what with packing, getting the luggage out, etc., but you’ll have to tune in – same blog time, same blog channel.

I only did one talk today, at sail-away and the crowd was very good.  I didn’t know what to expect, but the talk had been announced and was well-attended.  Bonnie said a man came in at 1 o’clock and said he was there for the Bermuda talk.  One of the patrons leaving the lounge said, “You just missed it.  It was 12 o’clock.”  Ooops.

Jordan Brawer, the man who invited me to do this cruise came on board today and it was a pleasure to see him in the audience.  Bonnie and I talked to him about cruises for 2017 – 3-4 weeks doing Bermuda, 3-4 weeks doing Alaska, and some trans-Atlantic sailings.  We really like Carnival – they have treated us the best of any line, and all are good, but we would be very pleased to do 2017 with the “Whale’s Tail.”

Last night’s show was a comedy magician.  Tonight’s show was a comedy juggler.  We talked about it after the show this evening – it is difficult to imagine making your living doing the same show over and over.  He did it twice tonight on the Carnival Vista, and will get on another ship Thursday in New York and do it two more times, and on and on.  He must enjoy what he does.  And we enjoyed his act.

Tonight one of the menu options was Southern Fried Chicken.  Those of my audience who ate chicken prepared by Bernice Jackson of Lugoff, SC, have consumed real SFC.  This offering was good, but no threat to the late Mrs. Jackson (no threat anyway, since she’s dead, Jim).  And the next to last night for Melting Chocolate Cake.  Yes, I have had it every night, and if it’s in the kitchen tomorrow night, it will be on my plate!

Well, I am going to turn the keyboard over to Bonnie to tell you that she went off the ship today, while I was rehearsing, all by herself!

TTFN!

All Alone in Bermuda!! Scary. I awoke at 4, again, couldn’t go back to sleep and finally just played on my phone till we got up. He showered. I did not. We went to breakfast and afterwards he went to the cabin and I headed off the ship. I wanted to see it I could get a couple of things. Oh my!! Because we were leaving early most of the 3800 guests on board who got off stayed at the dockyard. David wanted a can of baby powder and I went to the pharmacy to see about getting some. They had it but he did not get it. There was one cashier working and there were 30 people in line. I said to myself I will check back after going to the dockyard mall.  Well I shopped bought a few things and headed back to the pharmacy. Guess what the line was longer!! I left without the powder.

When I was going out of the store a man was pushing a large lady with her leg is a cast of some sort and bruises on her leg and I heard her husband say they had wrecked on a scooter yesterday. David warned people not to rent scooters. It is very dangerous. They drive fast, the streets are narrow and they drive on the wrong side of the road. They are English you know. Usually the cruise ships tell you not to rent them also. In Bermuda people may only own one car per family so most of them own and ride scooters, Vespas and bigger ones.

Well, I got back on board about 10:15 well ahead of all aboard at 11:30. I got my crocheting and headed to deck 5 near the Ocean Plaza and went outside and sat of the lanai. It was sunny but not hot and I could watch all the people coming back to the ship. Believe me they were not all back on board by 11:30. At about 11:35 I headed to limelight lounge for David’s talk. By 12 the place was pretty much packed. Good talk.

Afterwards we went to deck 10 and had a small bite of lunch and then, headed to the room for a nap. He napped and I tried. Did for a little while. I took my bath and washed my hair. I didn’t do it in the morning because I knew I would wear my hat out to shop. We went to supper and had a good time. I also had the fried chicken if was okay nothing extra. I really didn’t eat very much. After supper we went to the show after sitting through Bingo with NoNo. Very boring.

Well, it is bed time. Still don’t know how we are getting off and getting to the airport. Hopefully we find out tomorrow. You know me, I stress. Though I have been pretty good so far on this trip.

Looking forward to seeing everybody. Love Mom/Granny
